Looking after capercaillie in Carrbridge woods
The woods around Carrbridge provide essential habitat for capercaillie. Where some woodlands around the village have changed use and are being split up and sold in small plots, this could lead to increased disturbance to capercaillie.
To help manage any potential impact the Cairngorms Capercaillie Project is working with woodlands.co.uk who are responsible for selling the plots and all plot owners to raise awareness of the issue. Carrbridge’s Capercaillie Community Ranger, Emma, is regularly present in the woods engaging with plot owners and track users and CNPA is calling in all related planning applications.
